During the year, the big domestic banks can raise their fees again
As a consequence of inflation, the major Hungarian banks were forced to raise their fees, which means an average increase of 28% for simpler bank accounts. According to a report by Azénpénzem.hu, consumers can expect further increases during the year, if the banks also raise the fees that have remained unchanged.
Major Hungarian banks, such as OTP, CIB, K&H, Raiffeisen, Unicredit, Erste and MBH, have already announced increases in bank account fees in response to last year’s inflation. In addition to the effects of inflation, the account and card offerings of banks are constantly changing, which usually results in higher fees. The banks previously raised their fees on the grounds that they did not exceed the inflation rate of the previous year, but according to the report of Azénpénzem.hu, customers should prepare for further increases during the year, taking into account inflation forecasts for 2023.
