Austria turns to the European Commission because of the special tax
The Hungarian crisis tax prefers the Hungarian-owned companies, so it is contrary to the EU competition rules – wrote Die Presse in its Thursday's issue. The Austrian companies lobbied against the tax, until one of the MEP turned to the European Commission.
The Hungarian government’s special tax affects four segments – the financial sector, retail, energy and the telecommunications sector. The crisis tax affects mainly (90 percent) the foreign companies. The Austrian companies are primarily affected by the burden, imposed on retail sales – reports Világgazdaság Online, after Die Presse.
