The European Commission will help the dairy farmers
A proposal was made by the European Commission that the period of intervention in the cases of butter and skimmed milk powder should be extended because of the crisis in the milk sector.
The union will allow intervention purchasing between March and August only for a specified quantity. Now Brussels is proposing that this period should be extended until next February, and even, if necessary for a further year. The notice also pointed out that the Commission has restored certain export refunds and initiated the support of private storage. The dairy farmers' stressed with several protest actions in recent months, that Brussels must do something against the significantly reduced purchase prices – reports Privátbankár.hu.
