Euro zone inflation was 2.4 percent in April as well after March
In accordance with what was announced in advance, the annual inflation in the euro zone was 2.4 percent in April after March, according to the final data published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, on Friday.
A year earlier, last April, the annual increase in consumer prices in the euro area was 7.0 percent. In a monthly comparison, according to the preliminary estimate, consumer prices increased by 0.6 percent in April after 0.8 percent in March.
Based on Eurostat data, energy prices in April were 0.6 percent lower than a year earlier, following a 1.8 percent decrease in March.
The annual growth rate of food, alcoholic beverages and tobacco prices accelerated to 2.8 percent in April from 2.6 percent in March.
