Eurozone GDP grew by 0.1 percent in the second quarter compared to the previous quarter
Eurozone GDP grew by 0.1 percent in the second quarter compared with the first quarter, in line with the previous estimate, according to the third final estimate published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, on Friday.
Eurozone GDP grew by 0.6 percent quarter-on-quarter in the first quarter.
Eurozone GDP growth in the second quarter was 1.5 percent year-on-year, down from the previous estimate of 1.4 percent, after a 1.6 percent increase in the first quarter.
In the European Union, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.2 percent quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter, in line with the second estimate, after a 0.5 percent increase in the first quarter. At an annual rate, growth was 1.6 percent, down from the previous estimate of 1.5 percent, after a 1.7 percent increase in the first quarter.
Among the larger eurozone economies, Germany’s gross domestic product shrank by 0.3 percent on a quarterly basis, Italy’s fell by 0.1 percent, while France and Spain achieved quarterly GDP growth of 0.3 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively.
