Consumer sentiment in the euro area improved to a more than two-year high in April
Consumer sentiment in the eurozone improved somewhat less than expected, but still reached a more than two-year high in April, according to Monday’s report based on preliminary data from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG ECFIN).
In the euro area, the consumer sentiment index rose from minus 14.9 points in March to minus 14.7 points, the highest since February 2022, in April, but it is still far from the long-term average. Analysts expected a more favorable April figure of minus 14.0 points.
The indicator reached its historical low in September 2022 at minus 28.6 points.
