Producer prices in the euro area and the European Union increased in June, both month-on-month and year-on-year
Producer prices in the eurozone and the European Union rose both month-on-month and year-on-year in June, according to data released by the European Union’s statistics office, Eurostat, on Tuesday.
In the eurozone, producer prices rose by 0.8 percent month-on-month in June, in line with analysts’ expectations, after a 0.6 percent monthly decline in the previous month.
In the EU, producer prices rose by 0.7 percent month-on-month in June, after a 0.6 percent monthly decline in the previous month.
In the eurozone, energy prices rose by 3.2 percent in the month, after falling by 2.2 percent in May. In the European Union, energy prices rose by 2.4 percent month-on-month for the sixth month of the year, after falling by 2.3 percent in May.
Excluding energy prices, industrial producer prices fell by 0.1 percent in the euro area on a monthly basis and rose by 0.1 percent in the EU.
Over the year since June 2024, euro area producer prices rose by 0.6 percent, compared with the 0.5 percent expected by analysts, following a 0.3 percent increase in the previous month. Energy prices fell by 0.1 percent in the euro area after a 1.5 percent annual decline in the previous month.
In the EU, producer prices rose by 0.6 percent year-on-year in June, after a 0.4 percent increase in the previous month. Energy prices fell by 0.9 percent in the European Union after a 1.7 percent annual decline in May.
Excluding energy prices, producer prices rose by 0.9 percent year-on-year in the euro area and by 1.1 percent in the EU in the sixth month of the year.
