In a monthly comparison, retail sales in the euro area and the European Union decreased in April.
According to data published on Thursday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union, in April retail sales in the euro area decreased by 0.5 percent, more than the 0.3 percent expected by analysts, and in the European Union it shrank by 0.6 percent compared to March, when in the euro area A traffic increase of 0.7 percent and 0.6 percent in the EU was registered compared to February.
Compared to the previous month in the European Union, the retail turnover of food, beverages and tobacco products shrank by 0.9 percent in April, with the exception of fuel, that of non-food products did not change on a monthly basis, and that of fuel decreased by 2.0 percent.
