1% fall in EU27's retail
For the eurozone countries the decrease was by 2.9% compared with the same month a year ago.
According to a Eurostat the highest
increases were observed in Romania (18%) and Lithuania (14.0), while
the largest decreases in Germany (-5.6%) and in Spain (- 3.3%).
Sales volume for motor vehicles and
motor vehicle parts and accessories stores – not regarded as retailing by the European
Statistical System – rose by 5.3% compared to a low base in April
2007. The retail trade turnover of automotive fuel was higher by
0.3%, at constant prices than the corresponding month of the previous
year.
