The EU is the world’s largest medicine importer
The European Union was the world’s largest medicine importer last year, according to Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union.
According to Eurostat, in 2016, most medicinal and pharmaceutical products were exported from the European Union, in a value of 144 billion euros, while the EU’s equivalent imports amounted to 75 billion euros.
After the EU, Switzerland is the world’s second-largest medicine importer, with 65 billion euros a year, followed by the US by 47 million euros. (MTI)
