EU would make short-term accommodation more transparent by introducing stricter rules
The European Commission has adopted a proposal for a regulation to make short-term accommodation rental more transparent and to support the authorities in order to ensure the balanced development of this type of accommodation rental as part of the tourism industry, the Brussels body informed on Monday.

Registration will be unavoidable
The EU commission stated in its announcement that the new legislation will improve the collection and sharing of data from accommodation providers and online platforms, help to make the identification and activities of short-term accommodation providers more transparent, facilitate compliance with the necessary rules and the registration of accommodation providers.
The regulations also aim to eliminate the fragmentation that currently characterizes data sharing by online platforms and help prevent illegal advertising. All this will contribute to the transparency of the tourism sector and will support the sector’s digital transition, they wrote.
