The European Union supported the combat against climate change with about 20 billion euros (6,200 billion forints) in the developing countries last year – the Council of EU Member States’ governments announced.
In 2016, the EU and its Member States contributed to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in developing countries and mitigating climate change impacts with 20.2 billion euros. This amount represents a significant increase over the previous years.
As the Council pointed out, the EU’s support significantly contributes to the achievement of the Paris Climate Aid Convention concluded at the end of 2015.
