Cooking oil producing highest price rise
Prices were up by 5.1 percent in October 2008, compared to October 2007, and 0.2 percent higher than in September. Food prices were up by 0.3 percent compared to September. The prices of swine fat, potato, fresh vegetables went up, while those of flour, pasta, cooking oil and chocolate dropped compared to September. Household energy, alcoholic beverages and tobacco showed a higher than average price rise. Food prices have also increased at a faster than average rate (6.3 percent) since last October. Cooking oil has produced the greatest price rise (48.5 percent), followed by rice, swine fat, margarine, pork, milk sausages and cheese.
