Strengthening forint slows down meat imports
Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) monitors and regularly publishes the world’s poultry and fruit/vegetable product trends. Their latest report reveals that the price of Hungarian slaughter pigs decreased early July. In the first six months, the production price of beef cattle was 9 percent higher than in the same period a year before. In the first three weeks of July, processing companies bought 6 percent less slaughter poultry than a year before and in the same period production price fell by 9 percent. Early July, domestic poultry sales diminished by 10 percent, with sales price after processing decreasing by 3 percent.
