In the first quarter, retail sales in Romania increased by 6.4 percent
In the first quarter, based on raw data, retail sales in Romania increased by 6.4 percent year-on-year, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) announced.
The turnover of non-food products increased by 12.3 percent, the turnover of fuel retail increased by 2.7 percent, and the sale of food, beverages and tobacco increased by 1.8 percent. The data adjusted for the calendar effect show a 5.5 percent increase in retail sales. In the field of non-food products, the increase was 11.5 percent, in the case of fuels, it was 3.2 percent, and in the case of food, beverages and tobacco, it was 0.9 percent. In March, according to raw data, retail sales increased by 2 percent, and according to calendar-adjusted data, by 4.3 percent compared to the same period in 2023. Compared to the previous month, retail turnover in March increased by 8.6 percent according to raw data and 0.7 percent according to calendar-adjusted data.
