The average increase of prices was 7.0% in the first two months
In February 2008 consumer prices rose by 1.1% compared to the previous month, the food prices rose by 0.8%.
Price increase was measured in case of
edible oil (4.2%), cheese (2.4%), meals at canteens (2.2%), milk
(1.6%), meals at schools (1.5%), as well as bread and flour
(1.4-1.4%). Food prices excluding seasonal food items were 0.9%
higher than in the previous month. In case of electricity, gas and
other fuels prices rose to the highest extent (8.2%), including a
15.4% growth of piped gas’ prices and 9.8% of electricity prices.
The price rise of services (0.7%) was lower than the average. Within
services prices of sewerage disposal grew by 5.4%, water charges by
4.6%. In case of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.3%) as well as
other goods and consumer durable goods (0.2-0.2%) prices rose in
lower extent. Consumer paid 2.2% less for clothing and footwear.
In February 2008 compared to February
2007 food prices rose by 12.6%, a higher-than-average
rate. In this category a substantial
price increase was observed in case of flour (54.1%), edible oil
(49.1%), pasta products (23.9%), milk
(23.4%), rolls (23.3%), bread (22.3%) and cheese (21.6%). In case of
electricity, gas and other fuels prices increased by 9.2%, at a rate
higher than the average, while electricity prices rose by 15.7%,
piped gas by 11.2%. Prices of other goods rose lower than the average
(6.4%), comprising a 18.6% price rise of motor fuels. The price rise
of alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.1%), as well as services (6.3%)
was lower than the average too. Within services prices of refuse
disposal grew by 13.2%, sewerage disposal by 11.2%, water charges by
10.6%. Prices of consumer durable goods and clothing and footwear
decreased by 0.5% compared to February 2007.
