Road carrier costs increased by 22-23 percent in the first half of the year
In the first half of 2022, the Road Transport Price Index (KFX), which shows the costs of Hungarian road carriers, shows an increase of around 22-23 percent compared to the whole of the previous year, of which the carriers were able to enforce 13-15 percent in their prices in the first half – said Ferenc Lajkó, Hungarian Economic Society (MKT)’s logistics department on Monday at the economic company’s online professional event.

Fuel costs have also increased drastically
The Road Transport Price Index shows the price effects of road transport based on the data of thousands of trucks of the 20 largest Hungarian carriers.
Ferenc Lajkó, who is also the managing director of DigiLog Consulting, which developed the index that will be prepared this quarter, pointed out that the 8-9 percent difference between the legitimate cost and the cost validated in the transportation price is a problem that can affect the supply chain.
The logistics industry specialist explained that in the cost increase measured in the first half of the year, fuel accounted for 14 percent, driver’s wages for 5 percent, and the transit fee for 3 percent, but the costs were also influenced by inflation and the development of the base interest rate.
