Almost one and a half times the amount of the previous year’s donation was collected in Tesco before Christmas
The largest fundraising team in the country supports the year-round work of the Ecumenical Aid Organization with another HUF 85 million to help the needy. The amount was collected through Tesco and its customers during the Advent fundraiser that ended on December 24, 2023, to which the department store chain joined for the 14th time. During the campaign, customers bought a total of more than 330,000 coupons in the chain’s stores and online, which represents more than HUF 82 million in support for the needy. The amount is the third largest since the beginning of the cooperation between the retail company and the Aid Organization, and exceeds the result of 2022 by more than 40 percent. Tesco supplemented this with HUF 85 million, thereby supporting the charity’s social and opportunity-creating programs.
For 14 years, Tesco has been participating in the Ecumenical Relief Organization’s Advent Fundraising, during which customers of the supermarket chain could buy HUF 250 donation coupons at the cash registers and self-service cash registers between November 13 and December 24, 2023. From December 1, they could also choose from 250, 500 and 1,000 HUF coupons available online to help the needy in this way.
This time, a record amount of monetary donations was collected during the campaign, because those who came into the stores and online donors bought coupons worth more than HUF 82 million. This is 44 percent more than the money received during the 2022 campaign, and is also the third highest amount of support in the history of cooperation between Tesco and the Aid Organization. The 85 million forints added to the tesco support will be used by the Ecumenical Relief Organization to support destitute families throughout the year.
