Euro area GDP grew faster than previously estimated
On a quarterly basis, euro area gross domestic product grew at a higher rate than in the preliminary estimate and in the previous quarter, according to a report by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union announced on Wednesday.

Economic growth in the euro area comes as a surprise
In the first quarter, seasonally adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 0.6 percent in the euro area and by 0.7 percent in the European Union, compared with the previous quarter.
In the fourth quarter of last year, quarterly euro area and EU GDP growth was 0.2 percent. (MTI)
