The current downward trend of the Hungarian wine production may continue in the forthcoming years, because the number of modern, newly planted vineyards in Hungary is low – said Varga Péter, owner of the Varga Winery in Budapest on Thursday at the 20th Wine Festival in the Buda Castle to MTI.
According to the experts, in Hungary currently vines are produced on about 60 thousand hectares. It is only about 10-15 thousand hectares can be called as modern. The remaining, approximately 45 hectares are30-year-old plantations, which should be renewed.
