Analysts said that the positive trend in March retail sales caused a surprise.

In March this year the retail sales volume was 0.9 percent higher, compared to the previous year, and increased by 0.5 percent, compared to February according to the seasonally and calendary effect adjusted datas – announced the Central Statistical Office.

According to Árokszállási Zoltán, Erste Bank’s analyst, the positive trend in March retail sales caused a surprise, because everyone expected a decrease. To the growth, the fact also contributed that the Easter shopping began in March, which was shifted to April last year. Food retail sales grew by 2.7 percent in a year, which is an unusually high rate, and it pulled up the turnover significantly. (MTI)
