The Food Rescue Center’s Advent Charity Campaign
The Food Rescue Center Nonprofit Ltd. (ÉMK) is launching its charity food collection campaign this Advent season with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture. This Christmas, the Center will be collecting for the members of the National Association of Associations of the Disabled (MEOSZ). Donations from Hungarian companies are being accepted until December 16, and the food donation packages will be delivered to those in need before the Christmas holidays.
Donations from Hungarian companies are being accepted by email at adomany@emkp.hu or by calling 06 30 728 6220 until December 16.
The Center would like to draw attention to the fact that by donating food that is no longer available on the shelves of retail stores but is still perfectly fit for consumption, we can help those in need and reduce food waste. Food is an indispensable resource that should not be wasted.
In the European Union, it has been possible to donate products with expired shelf life, which cannot be sold commercially, but are still fit for human consumption, for charitable purposes since 2021. The Government of Hungary established the Food Rescue Center precisely with the aim of helping to reduce food loss in retail chains and to provide charities with durable food that is close to its expiration date but still safe to consume.
