The dominant sector of the food industry is egg production
Egg production is a key sector of the food industry, the competitiveness of which is supported by the Ministry of Agriculture with a number of tools, stated Márton Nobilis, the Ministry’s Secretary of State for Food Industry and Agricultural Vocational Training, on Friday, at the 22nd World Egg Day Professional Conference.

According to Márton Nobilis, the World Egg Day is not only about the promotion of eggs and their nutritional value, but also provides an important forum to review the current situation of the sector and to think together about future goals and developments. He reminded that 4,500 billion HUF development resources are available to agriculture with 80 percent additional national funding, according to the Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy between 2023-2027.
Among other things, farmers can apply for support for the establishment and development of animal farms
This could mean a jumping off point for egg producers, with the goal of involving up to one million hens in production. The technological development of laying hens, the introduction of automation and precision farming are all tools that can contribute to increasing productivity and achieving sustainability goals – the state secretary listed at the Friday event organized by the Poultry Product Council and the Association of Hungarian Egg Hybrid Breeders and Egg Producers.
Márton Nobilis emphasized that in the near future special attention should also be paid to the management of animal health challenges, such as the current bird flu situation
Controlling animal diseases, increasing the effectiveness of vaccination programs and complying with animal health regulations are all key to the safety of the poultry sector. He also explained that, starting from the feeding of the laying hens to the health care of the poultry, each step of the production process requires a high level of expertise and up-to-date knowledge. Cooperation between vocational training institutions and higher education institutions is of fundamental importance in the development of appropriate educational programs. That is why the Ministry of Agriculture supports initiatives such as the introduction of dual training systems, which enable young professionals to gain practical experience.
