The participants of the 4th International Forum on Food and Nutrition drew attention on the worldwide disparities of food distribution. The forum was held in Milan and ended on Thursday.
Every year 1.3 billion tons of food becomes a waste. It is thirty percent of the annual produced food. The 868 million starving people of the world can be fed four times from this amount.
Every year 36 million people die of hunger, 29 million people are the victims of excessive eating. The number of overweight and obese is 1.5 billion. (MTI, Sárközy Júlia)
