Food product prices did not grow above the average
After the relatively high inflation rate in March, the consumer price index growth slowed down a bit. Compared with the previous month, the average consumer price increase was 0.5 percent higher in April 2010, but compared with April 2009 prices were up by 5.7 percent. KSH’s quick report revealed that in comparison to March 2010, food prices grew by 0.5 percent. Seasonal product prices went up by 4.2 percent. Compared with prices in April 2009, food prices were up below the average by 2.4 percent, with coffee price growing by 10.6 percent; fuel prices augmented by 25.2 percent, alcoholic beverages and tobacco soared by more than 10.9 percent.
