Food prices rose by 11.0 percent in Germany
In July, inflation eased in line with expectations in Germany based on preliminary data from the German Federal Statistical Office, Destatis.
In July, according to experts’ expectations, the consumer price index fell to 6.2 percent on an annual basis from 6.4 percent in the previous month. Compared to the previous month, consumer prices also increased by 0.3 percent, in line with expectations, after the 0.3 percent monthly price increase in June.
Based on preliminary data, the inflation rate calculated without food and energy, the core inflation, may be 5.5 percent in July, lower than the 5.8 percent in June.
