The increase in food prices and the price cap were the main topics at Tuesday’s session of the Parliament
The speeches before the agenda at Tuesday’s session of the Parliament also talked about the increase in food prices, energy prices and the state of emergency.
Dániel Z. Kárpát (Jobbik) talked about the fact that, according to the graph published at the beginning of the year, which provides an overview of the countries of the world, Hungary was in tenth place in terms of rising food prices. This was a shocking figure, and the problem is that since then, the increase in food prices in the EU has been many times higher than the domestic figures, he pointed out.
Bertalan Tóth (MSZP) stated that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and his government have spoiled the energy policy, “we buy the most expensive Russian gas in Europe”. He said that the “brutal Fidesz energy price increase” had resulted in bankruptcy and layoffs, as well as significant inflation in Hungary.
According to Dávid Bedő (Momentum), the government has been trying to instill fear in people for 2,500 days, since then there has been some kind of crisis or emergency in the country. According to him, the reason for this is that the government can abuse its power more easily and decisions can be controlled even less. He complained that the cabinet is now preparing to extend the state of emergency.
