Food prices curb inflation again
In September 2009, consumer prices were 4.9 percent higher than in September 2008. KSH’s quick report reveals that food prices decreased by 0.6 percent in comparison with August, largely due to the 7.1-percent reduction in seasonal product prices. The biggest price increase was in the clothing category, 2.9 percent. Prices of services were down by 1.1 percent, above the average decrease. Compared with September 2008, food prices were up by 3 percent, below the average increase; alcoholic beverage and tobacco product prices augmented by 9.4 percent.
