Less wine sold – at higher prices
Data from the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) and KSH’s market price information system (PÁIR) reveal that the production price of raw milk in Hungary was HUF 89.47/kg in November 2012, growing by 4 percent from the previous month. Preliminary data published by the National Council of Wine Communities indicates that 1.9 million hectolitres of wine was produced in Hungary last year, 22 percent less than the 2.5 million hectolitres a year earlier. Sales of domestically produced wine dropped 29 percent, with the sales price augmenting by 17 percent in the January-November 2012 in comparison with the same period one year before. Broiler chicken: in Hungary 6 percent more was purchased in the first 49 weeks of 2012; its live weight price was HUF 267/kg, 7 percent higher than one year earlier.
