Winemaker face new challenges due to the climate change
Due to effects of global warming, sugar content of wine is increasing. The team of the French scientific research institute the INRA therefore developed a method, that allows to reduce the degree of sugar in the wine.
The stakes are high for the French vineyards. The INRA has developed a special program to produce “quality wines with reduced alcohol content” (French acronym: VDQA). Twelve state companies and private partners are involved in the experiment. In short terms, the researchers work out a solution to reduce the alcohol content of wine, which seems an easy task. A part of the water and alcohol content is removed from the wine, than the resulting crop water will be reunited with the original wine. (MTI)
