The whole cosmetics industry is being provoked by THE BODY SHOP
The ethical cosmetics brand THE BODY SHOP, which is also popular in our country, has announced its Changemaking Beauty program, with which it challenges the entire beauty industry. All based on the legacy of the founder, Anita Roddick, the first “Changemaker”.
Dame Anita Roddick founded THE BODY SHOP in 1976 with the belief that, contrary to business as usual, business actors can do good in the world. The brand has been a pioneer of sustainable and ethical operations ever since, even long after the early death of the founder. Now this principle is raised to a higher level in the Changemaking Beauty program, the three pillars of which are Changemaking for the planet, Changemaking for communities and Changemaking for you.
THE BODY SHOP’s past actions for the planet include the fight against animal testing: THE BODY SHOP was one of the first companies to ban the use of ingredients tested on animals. The company uses sustainable packaging materials – by 2030, 100% of the packaging materials will be reusable, recyclable or compostable – and in the “Return recycle repeat” program launched a few years ago, the packaging of their products is collected back. The brand measures and continuously reduces the eco-footprint of its products and has introduced refilling stations in several of its stores, so customers can refill shower gel, hand wash and hair care in their own aluminum bottles. Recharging stations are already available in four stores in Hungary: ETELE Plaza, Arena Mall, Westend and Mammut.
