AutoWallis introduces NIO premium electric car brand to the region
The AutoWallis Group has taken another significant step in strengthening its international position, after agreeing to acquire the exclusive import rights for the electric car developer NIO brand in the most potential electric car markets in our region, including Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland and Romania. Sales are expected to start in Hungary and Austria in the last quarter of 2025, and in other countries from 2026.
The AutoWallis Group, listed in the Premium category of the Budapest Stock Exchange, is further strengthening its international position: it has acquired exclusive import rights for the distribution of the electric car developer NIO brand in the region, first preparing distribution in five of its countries. Sales are expected to start in Hungary and Austria in the last quarter of 2025, followed by Romania, the Czech Republic and Poland in 2026. With the agreement with AutoWallis Group, NIO has taken a significant step towards expanding its European presence, entering the markets of Norway in 2021, and Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands and Germany in 2022. The Shanghai-based company, which operates a battery swap station manufacturing plant in Biatorbágy and was founded in 2014, went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 2018, and its shares are also listed on the Hong Kong and Singapore stock exchanges. NIO maintains development centers in several countries around the world: an industrial design center in the UK, a design center in California and Berlin for advanced self-driving software development, and a design center in Munich for the exterior and interior design of cars.
Gábor Ormosy, CEO of AutoWallis, said about the agreement: “We are proud to partner with one of the world’s most exciting car brands in our region, for the first time in five countries. We are drawing on our decades of experience and automotive market expertise in the region to launch the NIO brand in Central and Eastern Europe. NIO’s innovative strength is inspiring, so we look forward to working with our new partner.”
