This year less apples than average will grow in Hungary
On the basis of the preliminary crop estimates, about 450,000 tons of apple crop are expected in Hungary this year, which is 25 percent below the average. In Hungary, the consumption of food apples per person is 12-15 kilogrammes per year.
An apple working group was also established with the participation of the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK), the Association of Hungarian Farmers’ and Cooperatives (MAGOSZ), the FruitVeB Hungarian Fruit and Vegetable Interprofessional Organization and Product Council and the Northeast Hungarian Apples and Other Fruit Interprofessional Organization and Product Council (ÉKASZ).
