Asda’s closing of in-store bakeries can result in 1,200 fewer jobs
Asda is in negotiations with its 1,200 in-store bakery workers about the closure of these units and the step’s possible effects. Asda’s plan is to keep employing these people, but in other positions. Since shopper demand has recently shifted from classic breads towards specialty baked goods, Asda intends to introduce a central bakery model instead.
