Asda expands further in Scotland
UK retailer, Asda, has announced plans to expand within Scotland, investing over €300 million and creating over 3,500 new jobs over the next three years.
It currently has 47 food stores, and will open a new "eco store", with renewable technologies and natural lighting and ventilation, in Glenrothes this month. Andy Clarke, chief operating officer, said, “This major investment demonstrates our on-going commitment to providing high quality goods and services at affordable prices to even more people across Scotland." The company created over 700 jobs in Scotland in 2008 and invested a similar €300 million in the country between 2003 and 2008 and new and existing stores – reports foodinternational.net.
