After the panic in April, the GKI business climate index rose slightly in May
The GKI business cycle index rose 5 points to minus 28 points after falling 29 points in April. It is still reflecting pervasive pessimism, while most sub-indices worked one-third of their dramatic fall in April in May, presumably as a result of the government’s announced epidemiological easing. However, pessimism in the industry became even stronger – GKI Gazdaságkutató Zrt. told MTI.
The consumer confidence index strengthened by 11.3 points to 38.5 points, the business confidence index increased by only 2.7 points to 24.5 points, although the fall in April was also larger in the business sector (37 and 25 points, respectively). (MTI)
