The American Thanksgiving Day in numbers
The Thanksgiving Day will be celebrated on Thursday in the United States, which is the most important American family celebration, beside Christmas. The US Census Bureau (USCB) has some data to share in connection with this year’s Thanksgiving Day.
It is predicted that this year a total of 242 million turkeys will be raise the country, 5 percent more than two years ago; 45 million in Minnesota, 35 million in North Carolina, 29 million in Arkansas, 17-17 million in Indiana and in Missouri and 16 million and Virginia. The United States imported living turkeys for 19 million USD last year (almost exclusively from Canada), and sweet potatoes from mainly Dominica in a value of 10.4 million USD. (Pogár Demeter, MTI)
