The sales revenue of the animal and vegetable fats and oils product group increased the most

In the first six months of 2025, the export price index of agricultural foreign trade increased by 9.1 percent, the import price index by 2.6 percent, and the terms of trade index improved by 6.3 percent in the period under review compared to the base period.

The value of national economy exports increased by 2.5 percent, imports by 2.6 percent

The share of agricultural and food products in the total national economy export value in the first half of 2025 was 8.9 percent, and in the import value was 7.1 percent. Out of the 24 commodity groups of agricultural and food products, the export value of 8 increased, while that of 16 decreased in the first half of 2025 compared to the base period. The sales revenue of animal and vegetable fats and oils (KN15) increased by the largest amount (+50 million euros), as the prices of sunflower seed oil, rapeseed oil and margarine, among the highest-value products in the commodity group, exceeded the prices of the previous year by 10–35 percent. The sales revenue of cocoa products (KN18) increased by 45.6 million euros, that of the various edible products (KN21) group by 44.4 million euros, and that of live animals (KN01) by 27.9 million euros in the period under review compared to the base. The largest decrease in export value affected cereals (KN10) (–361.4 million euros), primarily due to a 30-40 percent drop in the prices of wheat and corn. The export value of vegetable and fruit products (KN20) was 44.8 million euros less compared to the base, as the export of canned vegetables decreased by almost 20 percent.
