Lidl pays fine for the state and its employees
According to Spigel news magazin he discount chain will pay around E0.6m-0.7m in Lower Saxony alone, through having to pay 60 to 70 fines of E10,000 each.
Spring time Germany's cut-price
supermarket chain was accused of using Stasi methods to spy on its
staff and collect intimate details about their personal lives,
including their relationships, bank accounts and the frequency of
their lavatory breaks. When the bomb exploded Lidl stoped this
practice and payed reparation for the employees.
Now Lidl has agreed to pay a
seven-figure fine also for the state, but has denied that it was
systematically spying on its employees.
