Vines had to be recultivated on the Great Plains
Conflicting news appeared on severe frost damages in the vineyards. It will turn out in the end of May, how much damage the Easter freeze and in the winter caused in the Hungarian vineyards.
Horváth Csaba, Secretary of the National Council of Wine Communities, told that the winter frosts seriously damaged the wooden parts of the grapevines in the Hajós-Bajai, Kunsági and Csongrád wine regions. There are vineyards where the vines had to be cultivated again.
The Easter frost did not cause such damages, because only the bursting buds were frozen. The wine is well healed, so the wave of frost did not cause such damages, which would affect the success of the harvest. (by our colleague)
