Aldi UK driving plastic reduction
Aldi has announced it will be removing all free plastic bags for loose fruit and vegetables from store by the end of 2020.
Shoppers will instead be able to purchase a reusable bag made from recycled bottles for 25p. Aldi has said this will save 100 tonnes of plastic a year.
This latest initiative is part of Aldi’s plastic reduction pledge. The retailer aims to reduce its plastic packaging by 25% over the next three years. It is also on track to have all private label products be recyclable, reusable or compostable by 2022, and branded products sold at Aldi by 2025.
