ALDI and TOLNATEJ are jointly investigating the consumer complaint received about ESL milk
On August 5, 2023, the ALDI store in Piliscsaba received a customer complaint regarding ESL milk with a 1.5% fat content. The company immediately began investigating the complaint and, as a precaution, in compliance with the conduct guidelines of the responsible distributor, withdrew from sale the 1.5% ESL milk sold under article number 33631, item ID L239536, with an expiration date of September 1st, in all of its stores in Hungary. The supermarket chain and the manufacturer, TOLNATEJ Zrt., have initiated an investigation separately, and are cooperating closely during the investigation, and will inform the National Food Chain Safety Office of the results of the investigations.
According to the findings of the preliminary inspection conducted at the manufacturer, the products could not be contaminated with cleaning agents, chemicals or other substances. The samples taken during the production process were repeatedly checked by TOLNATEJ Zrt., and the subsequent inspection of the samples also came to this conclusion. TOLNATEJ Zrt. made these samples available to Nébih. The manufacturer will immediately subject unopened packaged products returned to ALDI stores to be tested as problematic.
