The Ministry of Agriculture is lobbying for acacia in Brussels
Fazekas Sándor Minister of Rural Development wrote a letter to Environmental Commissioner last week, in order not to include white acacia on the list, that contains the non-native animal and plant species, that will be repressed.
The committee presented its proposal in September last year for the reduction of the so-called non-native species, which according to the European Comission cause 12 billion euros worth damage each year to the European agricultural sector. The committee wants to ban fifty species, but the European Parliament and the Agri-Ministers abolished this ceiling. Any invasive species can be included to the list, of which more and more plants and animal species can be added. (MTI)
