Ahold Delhaize buys one of the largest retail companies in Romania
Ahold Delhaize is buying one of the largest Romanian retail companies, Profi Rom Food, the Romanian business press announced based on the statement of the Dutch-Belgian company.
Profi Rom Food is owned by the Mid Europa Partners investment fund. At the end of January, the company operated 1,647 supermarkets and convenience stores under the Profi, Profi Super, Profi City and Profi Loco brands, most of them located in small towns and villages. It is the most extensive retail network in Romania.
Ahold Delhaize is also present on the Romanian market through its subsidiary Mega Image Romania SRL, operating 969 supermarkets and convenience stores under the Mega Image and Shop&Go brands. During Mega Image’s expansion so far, it has concentrated on large cities with high purchasing power.
Ahold Delhaize is one of the world’s largest retail companies. The company employs 414,000 people and has 7,659 stores in Europe, the United States of America and Indonesia.
