István Nagy said that the aim of the unified system is to provide customers with a symbol of the guarantee of domestic origin in addition to quality, which will further strengthen the trust of producers, traders and customers. The Minister indicated that the experience of the High Quality Food Trademark is being used in the development of the system. It is crucial for the future of Hungarian agriculture that consumers consciously choose domestic products – the Minister pointed out. István Nagy added that the trademark certifying Hungarian origin will serve this purpose. “If customers see it, they will receive a clear signal that they are holding a product that is the result of Hungarian work, Hungarian knowledge, and Hungarian effort,” he said. In his speech, the minister emphasized that producer fairs and exhibitions play an important role in establishing a direct connection between farmers and consumers, which strengthens trust and appreciation of domestic products. He said that the quality, safety, and freshness of food produced by Hungarian producers are a guarantee for customers. He emphasized that the strength of domestic agriculture lies in local communities, knowledge, and cooperation. He cited the South Borsod region as an example, where agricultural traditions and modern processing industry developments both contribute to the production of competitive products. István Nagy pointed out that Hungarian agriculture operates in increasingly strong international competition, which is why it is particularly important to protect domestic producers and increase the level of processing. He added that the government’s goal is a strong countryside and a strong agriculture, which both preserves traditions and is able to adapt to the challenges of the future. According to the Minister, the conscious decision of consumers is essential for all this, because in the long term this can ensure the livelihood of Hungarian farmers and the survival of rural communities. István Nagy said that the government has provided significant resources in recent years for the development of the sector, especially for strengthening the processing industry. The aim of this is for Hungarian producers to not only produce raw materials, but also to appear on the markets with products with higher added value. The greater the degree of processing, the more competitive Hungarian agriculture is and the more stable the livelihood it provides for farmers – the minister emphasized.

István Jakab, Vice President of the Parliament and President of MAGOSZ, said that Gelej is an example of how development can be achieved through local initiatives and cooperation.

He emphasized that the creativity and will to act experienced in the settlement should be followed nationwide. Those communities can be truly successful that are able to realize their own ideas, he emphasized. András Tállai, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fidesz MP for the region, emphasized in his welcoming speech that the establishment of the South Borsod Agricultural Exhibition and Fair is the result of cooperation between local farmers, professional organizations and the government. He said that it is important for farmers and decision-makers to be in direct contact and to learn about each other’s experiences and problems. He added that the event provides an opportunity to present the agricultural achievements of the region and can also contribute to further strengthening the cooperation between farmers and the government. Nearly twenty producers and municipalities presented themselves at the first South Borsod Agricultural Exhibition and Fair.
