Further measures are needed to strengthen the competitiveness of agriculture
The strengthening of the competitiveness of Hungarian agriculture may offer solutions to many of the future challenges facing the sector, but this requires further action and support – Nagy István Minister of Agriculture said at a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture in Budapest on Tuesday.
The ministry leader emphasized that the ministry had been working on this decision in the past year.
Nagy István explained that agricultural output reached 2,720 billion HUF last year, while agricultural investment growth accelerated further in the first half of 2019, and expansion reached 17 percent. Agriculture accounted for 54 percent of the country’s foreign trade surplus in the first half of the year, with a surplus of nearly 1.17 billion euros. (MTI)
