Yettel is currently launching the most advanced version of the 5G network for its customers
Yettel was the first in Hungary – and the leader in the world – to make stand-alone 5G technology available to its customers in a publicly available offer.
The essence of the novelty is that, while the currently widespread 5G networks even rely on 4G in the construction of the connection, in the case of the newly introduced stand-alone 5G, all elements of the mobile connection take place on 5G and use only the frequencies designated for 5G. With this development, the many advantages of the 5G standard become a reality, so the new solution can, among other things, significantly shorten the network response time, further increase the available download and upload speeds, and enable the introduction of additional new digital services. Yettel is the first to open up the benefits of stand-alone 5G to its home and office 5G customers.
Yettel Hungary began its comprehensive network modernization work in 2021, through which it completely renews not only the antennas serving the network, but also the so-called core network connecting them. As a result of the investment of several tens of billions of forints, the capacity of the nationwide 4G network has increased to 2-3x the previous one, and it has also paved the way for the construction of a real, high-speed 5G network. The latter is already available in nearly 700 base stations nationwide, and today around 10% of mobile internet traffic is carried out using this technology.
