Rossmann automates logistics centre in Poland with Körber
Rossmann is automating large parts of its distribution centre in the polish town of Pyskowice with solutions from Körber.
Various automation technologies from the general contractor will be used in the distribution centre. By using different technologies from Körber, the company aims to support its expected growth in Poland and expand its logistics capacities. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2027, Retail Optimiser reports.
As general contractor, Körber is building a high-bay warehouse for Rossmann with eight aisles and around 27,000 pallet spaces. This will be supplemented by two shuttle warehouses: one with seven aisles and 110,000 storage locations and another with three aisles as an outgoing goods buffer. A multimodal conveyor system, consisting of rail-guided vehicles on two levels, as well as pallet and container conveyor technology, will ensure an efficient material flow. The entire warehouse technology will be controlled by the K.Motion warehouse management system developed by Körber.
The project was launched in February this year and, despite its complexity, is expected to be completed by mid-2027. “Our logistics infrastructure is the backbone of our increasingly denser store network. With the rapid conversion and expansion of our distribution centre in Pyskowice, we will not only be able to meet the forecast demand for the next few years perfectly,” says Jacek Przerwa, Technical Director at Rossmann. With the integrated technology mix and flexible solutions, Körber is laying the foundation for future scaling and further company growth.
Rossmann continues to expand in Poland
Rossmann has been operating in Poland since 1993 and currently has more than 1,900 stores in over 400 cities. Prior to the expansion, the distribution centre in Pyskowice supplied around 600 stores, mainly in southern Poland. In view of the expected growth and the planned expansion of the store network in Poland, Rossmann is now expanding its logistics structure.
