Wholesale prices in Austria fell in April
Wholesale prices in Austria fell both month-on-month and year-on-year in April, according to figures released by the Austrian statistical office, Bundesanstalt Statistik Österreich, on Wednesday.
Wholesale prices in Austria fell by 0.4 percent month-on-month in April, after a 0.8 percent drop in March.
Wholesale prices fell by 1.0 percent year-on-year in April, the steepest decline since October last year and the third consecutive month, after falling by 0.2 percent a month earlier in March.
Significantly lower fuel prices reduced wholesale prices for the third consecutive month in April 2025. At the same time, however, price pressure in the wholesale food sector increased noticeably. In particular, the prices of coffee, tea, cocoa and spices rose significantly, by 23.3 percent compared to a year earlier. Tobacco products also rose in price above average, by 4.8 percent in April, said Tobias Thomas, CEO of the Austrian Statistical Office.
