ALDI plans further expansion in Australia
Aldi has earmarked a sum of AUD1 billion for its expansion in Australia during the next three years.
Currently, Aldi runs 172 stores in New
South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and ACT, with more than 1 million
customers a week now passing through Aldi's checkouts, according to a
report in The Age.
Aldi opened its first two stores in
2001, CEO of Aldi Australia said there is potential for 500 along the
eastern seaboard.
The privately owned German parent
company, Aldi Sud, has ploughed $1.25 billion into Australia and
plans to reinvest a further $1 billion during the next three years.
